Every year the staff votes for one Rooter to be named "Rooter of the year." The chosen rooter is one who throughout the week demonstrates qualities of leadership, cheerfully takes on responsibilities, shows God's love to others through service, and continues to grow in their own faith.

2011 - Karen Ortega Karen was a blast to have a camp this year. As a rooter, she showed leadership in whatever she did. Her helpful and good natured attitude was ever present. She would jump into whatever was going on not needing to be asked to help. Part way into the week Karen hurt her ankle. For some people this would ruin their week, but not for Karen. She refused to let this get in the way of having a great week at camp. Karen showed us all how attitude overcomes adversity. The staff was so happy to have her at camp. Congratulations Karen! |

2010 - Brad Williams Brad had an awesome year at camp and was an easy choice for Rooter of the Year. Some would compare Brad to a rock, a sword, and a shield. His ability to make others smile for so many years makes Brad a foundation at camp, like a hub in the middle of the wheel. Brad's cheerfulness radiates like a bright morning star. He knows it makes no difference what you say, it's all about showing love to others that counts. Brad's selfless attitude radiated the whole week whether helping his huddle group, leading campfire songs, or getting on his knees to pray with others. Brad is always willing to showcase his vocal talent and did so in worship, letting us all know he'll be singing until the day Jesus comes. Congratulations on a well earned Rooter of the Year! |

2009 - Shawn Loughlin Shawn Loughlin has the well deserved honor of being the first Rooter of the Year award winner. He has a giving and generous heart. He brought his own boat to camp and then gave up his free time every day to tow tubers. Shawn even came early to camp to help the staff setup. He took on responsibilities throughout the week and did so with a cheerful and Christ-like attitude. His ability to see something that needs to be done and then doing it is admirable and made Shawn a blessing to have at camp. Congratulations Shawn! |
