Ultimate Challenge Camp History

  Ultimate Challenge Camp has been reaching Minnesota youth for over 80 years now. Originally named Summer Assembly, the camp was the foundation upon which all camps at Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds were built. In the 21st century, Summer Assembly has taken on it's current name, 'Ultimate Challenge Camp.' However, the values and traditions laid down so long ago are still as present as ever at this camp that is a favorite amongst campers throughout the state.

  It began as an Evangelical United Brethren camp. Pastors were required to come for the week as continuing education. They brought their families and the camp grew to become a 300+ member family camp with activities for all ages. On the Sunday of camp, the congregations of all the pastors would come to Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds for a congregate service with numbers often reaching 1000. Guest speakers included Bishops Billy Graham, Billy Sunday, and the Youngdahl brothers.

  When the Evangelical United Brethren church merged with the Methodists in 1969, the camp numbers began to dwindle. Suddenly, there were many camps to choose from. Summer Assembly evolved into a youth only camp. In the past 10 years there has been a "rebirth" and a new name for this wonderful camp that has such a great heritage. It continues to change lives. The staff is wild for Christ and excited to take the Ultimate Challenge with you!

  Today, Ultimate Challenge Camp is specifically tailored to meet the needs and expectations of youth in the form of our campers program for ages 12-17 and young adults with our rooters program for ages 18-24. We offer exciting and positive ways to begin building a relationship with God, and spend a week in an environment the promotes personal and spiritual growth. In keeping with traditions started nearly a decade ago, Ultimate Challenge Camp continues to create memories that will last a lifetime.
